How to retrofit COMAND with Star diagnostic tool

Here is the instruction on how to code Comand to display with Star OBDⅡdiagnostic tool.

Equipment:
Star diagnostic system SDS, SD Connect C4
Dell D630 laptop running Win XP mode

Retrofitting COMAND in Star DAS Developer Mode:

Install and activate Star diagnostic software. Software is pre-installed if you get the SD Connect C4 multiplexer and Dell D630 laptop bundle dealer.
Connect SD Connect C4 with vehicle via OBD socket
Run Star DAS software
Select correct vehicle model->F3
Select "Control units"->F3
Select "Information and Communication"->F3
Select "D2B – COMAND" or "Audio"->F3
Come to "Cockpit management and data system" program
Select "Retrofitting of D2B Components" and press "Yes" when the system asks for write it into the cluster
Back to "Cockpit management and data system" program
Select "Control Unit Adaptations"->F3
Select "Read coding and change if necessary"->F3
Select "Configuration of components" (not D2B instead) ->F3
Enable/activate following settings:
…Telephone with enlarged functionality
…TV Tuner
...Instrument cluster with automatically centering text
...Analog BOSE
...SMS transmissions permitted

Then save changes to the COMAND system
Click "YES" when the system asks whether to actually write the new configuration to the vehicle.

Go back to "Cockpit management and data system" program->F3
Select "Radio parameters" and set the "Tuner indent" to "North America"->F3
Select "YES" when it asks whether to actually write the new configuration to the vehicle.

Back to "Cockpit management and data system" program->F3
Select "Variant Coding” and set the "Model/Series" correctly, and the FADER ON.
Select "YES" when it asks whether to actually write the new configuration to the vehicle.

Back to Control units group menu->F3
Select "ICM – Instrument cluster"->F3
Select "Control Unit adaptations"->F3
Select "Variant Coding"->F3
Select "Optional Equipment" ->F3
Set "Navigation" to "PRESENT" in "Optional Equipment" menu
Select "YES" when it asks whether to actually write the new configuration to the vehicle
All the procedure is done. Back to main menu or exit the Star DAS diagnostic software program.
